SPE members are now able to become Members of SNIPF in France, H.K.I.Const.E in Hong Kong and the NSPE in the United States of America. Details of these organisations can be found here (Reciprocal Arrangements).
Older members may note the changes and additions to the grades of Membership. The Council have to be as forward looking as is possible and represent the Society for the benefit of the greater number of its members and these changes have been introduced to bring the Society into line as far as feasible with the prevailing Council of Europe requirements governing the control and registration of "Engineers". This mainly involves the Directive 89/48/EEC :- Mutual Recognition of Professional Qualifications, Article 3(b). In this connection the Society has on record a clarification document from the UK Co-ordinator, for Directive 89/48/EEC. This Directive has not been amended and is still current. A copy can be obtained from the Secetariat.
Note :- The Society of Professional Engineers cannot make applications for memberships of the above bodies on behalf of Members wishing to apply to any of the above Institutes or Societies. Also, The Society is not responsible for the outcome of any application.
